Mary-Kate Sableski, associate professor in teacher education has been chosen to serve on the Caldecott Medal Selection Committee for 2025. Sableski is also appointed as UD's Leary Chair for Innovation in Education, Health and Wellness.

The Randolph Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

Service on the selection committee is selective and competitive.

"The opportunity to serve as a member of the Caldecott Medal selection committee has been a longtime professional goal of mine," Sableski said. "The Caldecott Medal is the highest honor an American picture book illustrator can receive, and I am incredibly honored to be able to work with a team of colleagues this year to read, review and share all of the wonderful picture books that will be published in 2025."

The committee will announce their winner in January of 2026.
